Hittin' it in the Head

Ken is working hard in the head or the bathroom for the land lubbers. Ken used an alkyd enamel (oil based) exterior paint recommended by Don Casey in the Sailboat Maintenance Manual (a great resource book for onboard maintenance) to continue the spruce up process.
The faucet with shower adapter in the head….long story short…..we were going to buy a new one, but started tearing it apart and realized the leak we found upon arrival could be fixed. So here I am tearing it apart for cleaning. I used the product Barkeeper’s Friend to clean and this stuff worked great; it has been recommended many times in blogs and in books for an all around cleaning product for boats. Once I got it as clean as it was going to be, Ken walked me through putting it back together. Tearing these systems apart and then putting them back together is a great way to learn and feel more confident about the boat.
Onto the bilge, but still working hard! To see pictures of Ken in the bilge, click here. Or to see more pictures of us “workin’ it” on Wingin’ It, click here.

Corrections to previous post: Thanks for the Barkeeper's Friend suggestion! Great stuff indeed.
